Style existed long before fashion. Fashion was created.
When the first human, perceived the utter beauty, sophistication, uniqueness and elegance of a shell on the beach and adorned their body with it, feeling that in doing so, they could “take” this beauty with them, that in some way, as long as they had this object upon them, they would imbue its beauty unto themselves. That was style.
When they realised that they could capitalise the same beauty, sophistication, uniqueness and elegance with others, for love, sex, food, or currency - fashion was born.
