A vintage Polish 800 silver ring dating between 1963 and 1986, set with a round glazed ceramic cabochon displaying a distinctive cream and rust coloured crazed surface. The cabochon is framed by a twisted rope border and mounted on a fine silver band. The interior of the shank carries full Polish hallmarks for 800 silver alongside a partially rubbed maker’s mark “LAX” or similar. 2.53g UK size M.5.
This piece reflects the mid-century Polish taste for unusual cabochon materials, with ceramics and enamel often used alongside semi-precious stones. The crazed glaze surface gives this example particular character, making it stand apart from the more common jasper or agate cabochons of the period. The design, with its rope twist border and simple silver shank, speaks to the understated yet distinctive aesthetic of Polish jewellery workshops in the 1960s–70s.
